Schema class objects describe the possible Active Directory objects that can be created. Each schema class is a collection of schema attribute objects. For each object class, the schema defines which attributes an instance of the class must have, which additional attributes it can have, and which object class can be a parent of the current object class. Every object in Active Directory is an instance of a schema class object. Schema attribute objects define the schema class objects with which they are associated. Each schema attribute is defined only once and can be used in multiple schema classes. Because the schema definitions are themselves stored as objects in Active Directory, they can be administered in the same manner as the rest of the objects in Active Directory. Installing Active Directory on the first domain controller in a network creates a default schema that contains a set of basic schema class attributes. The default schema also contains definitions of objects and properties that Active Directory uses internally to function. The Active Directory schema is extensible, which means that you can define new directory object types and attributes and new attributes for existing objects. For example, Microsoft Exchange Server extends the schema to add e-mail properties to user account information in Active Directory. You can also extend the schema directly by using the Schema Manager snap-in or the Active Directory Service Interface (ADSI). Only experienced developers or network administrators should dynamically extend the schema by defining new classes and attributes for existing classes. The schema is implemented and stored within Active Directory itself (in the Global Catalog), and it can be updated dynamically. As a result, an application can extend the schema with new attributes and classes and use the extensions immediately.

There is one more check box on the Keyboard tab: Show Extra Keyboard Help In Programs. When activated, this check box causes other programs to display additional keyboard help if available.

This query doesn t return persistent entity instances, so Hibernate doesn t add any persistent object to the persistence context cache. This means that no object must be watched for dirty state either. Therefore, reporting queries result in faster release of allocated memory, because objects aren t kept in the persistence context cache until the context is closed they may be garbage collected as soon as they re dereferenced by the application, after executing the report. Almost always, these considerations are extremely minor, so don t go out and rewrite all your read-only transactions to use report queries instead of transactional, cached, and managed objects. Report queries are more verbose and (arguably) less object-oriented. They also make less efficient use of Hibernate s caches, which is much more important once you consider the overhead of remote communication with the database in production systems. You should wait until you find a case where you have a real performance problem before using this optimization. You can already create really complex HQL and JPA QL queries with what you ve seen so far. Even more advanced queries may include nested statements, known as subselects.

The Sound tab provides the Use SoundSentry check box, which allows you to configure Windows XP Professional to generate visual warnings when your computer makes a sound. The Sound tab also provides the Use ShowSounds check box, which allows you to configure Windows XP Professional programs to display captions for the speech and sounds they make.

The Display tab of the Accessibility Options dialog box provides the Use High Contrast check box, which allows you to configure Windows XP Professional to use color and fonts designed for easy reading. You can click Settings to turn off or on the use of a shortcut, LEFT ALT+LEFT SHIFT+PRTSCN, which is enabled by default. Clicking Settings also allows you to select the high-contrast appearance scheme that you want to use. The Display tab also provides cursor options that allow you to set the blink rate and the width of the cursor.

An important and powerful feature of SQL is subselects. A subselect is a select query embedded in another query, usually in the SELECT, FROM, or WHERE clauses. HQL and JPA QL support subqueries in the WHERE clause. Subselects in the FROM clause aren t supported by HQL and JPA QL (although the specification lists them as a possible future extension) because both languages have no transitive closure.
